Sir Ian McKellen has been speaking on BBC's Parkinson about his roles in Lord of the Ring and X-Men 2. He revealed that he had read neither the Lord of the Rings books nor any of the X-Men comics, but did catch up on both on the advice of his fans on his official website.
He went on to confirm that he will be leaving his West End show 'Dance of Death' in the second week of June to go back to New Zealand to film some brand new scenes written for 'Gandy' (as he likes to call Gandalf).
When asked about the rumored 'Lord of the Rings' tattoos that the major cast had done while filming, he said they had indeed had them done. While in the capital Wellington they visited a "seedy tattoo parlor" and held hands while everyone had them done in "various" places. He described the hobbits having them on their ankles, Elijah underneath his stomach and himself on his shoulder. McKellens tattoo consists of the number 9 in Elvish, representing the number in the Fellowship of the Ring.
Elijah Wood
